2013 Ovation Awards Finalist - Best Exterior Renovation
2013 Ovation Awards Finalist - Best Heritage Renovation
This project being a true heritage renovation in Vancouver, only approved products and design elements could be used in this one of a kind project. The home consists of wood shake exterior and stone from a quarry on BC’s own Hardy Island. Wood exterior windows and many trim details authentic to the original home built in 1924. Many of the fine details you see on this home were custom made on site, such as the decorative elbows and sunburst design detail at the roofline matching the original detail of the original home.
The interior of the home was completely remodeled using inspiration from the original era. The new larger kitchen features white shaker cabinets and custom stained wood island cabinetry. Our client being a Geologist by profession, the granite he chose for the countertops were of particular importance to him and chose this unique piece personally from Brazil. The design is so beautiful, it’s easy to forget how well the space functions! From the ingenious paneling to hide the television, to the antiqued mirror in the family room, we love how this new space is reminiscent of the original character! Sandblasted to the perfect patina, decorative beams in the master bedroom were reclaimed from the original home and compliment the homeowner’s furnishings perfectly.
